ARB designed it for rapid inflation of large tyres and says it covers the high volume air needs of most air powered tools. That makes it a natural fit for a base camp in the Empty Quarter, where tyres and tools share one air supply.

Features and Benefits

The twin motor design delivers 174 L/min (6.2 CFM) of free flow. At 29 psi (200 kPa) it moves 132 L/min (4.7 CFM). It cuts out at 150 psi (1,034 kPa). ARB rates the duty cycle at 100%, so it keeps running for the full hour. Maximum current draw is 68.6 A.

Additionally, ARB states it is designed and built to commercial and industrial standards for harsh outback conditions. Inside are hard-anodised cylinder bores and Teflon-impregnated carbon fibre piston seals. The unit is sealed against moisture and dust.

Moreover, the pressure switch and relays are integrated. A sealed cooling fan cools the electronics, motors and cylinder heads. An over-pressure safety valve is fitted. At 15 kg (33 lb) it is a two-handed lift. Even so, it stays out of the engine bay and can move to another vehicle.

Product-Specific Use Cases

Deep in the Empty Quarter, camp becomes the workshop. The ARB Portable Brushless Twin Motor 12V Air Compressor CKMTP12 sits on the ground beside the vehicles, refills large tyres in turn and handles the air tool jobs ARB designed it for. Because nothing is bolted in, it can go home in whichever vehicle has room, or stay with the 4x4 that needs it next weekend.

Technical Specifications

Twin brushed motors and continuous duty in a portable unit.

ARB Part Number: CKMTP12

Voltage: 12 V DC

Maximum Pressure: 150 psi (1,034 kPa)

Air Flow at 0 psi: 174 L/min (6.2 CFM)

Air Flow at 29 psi: 132 L/min (4.7 CFM)

Maximum Current Draw: 68.6 A

Duty Cycle: 100% (60 minutes on, 0 off)

Weight: 15 kg (33 lb)

Dimensions: 478 x 355 x 186 mm (18.8 x 14 x 7.3 in)

Why Buy at Trekaline

Long crossings reward a compressor that never has to be wired in.
