The Edelrid Defuser Rescue S Shock Absorber is the short, compact absorber in the Defuser range, covering a payload of 50 to 140 kg. It is built for climbing and working on ladders and structures, where keeping fall distance short matters more than anything else.

Features and Benefits

Length is the design variable in an energy absorber, and the S version optimises for the opposite thing to its longer siblings. A short absorber keeps the fall arrester running close to your body, which keeps the potential fall height low. On a ladder or a tight structure, that is exactly the geometry you want.

Additionally, the maximum arrest shock is 30 per cent below the standard requirement. Lower peak force means less load passed into your body and into the anchor, which is the whole reason an absorber sits in the system in the first place.
