Edelrid Tactical Absorber Sling

The Edelrid Tactical Absorber Sling is a self-belay sling for clipping into a belay chain or another anchor point. It is certified to EN 355, which means it contains a tested energy absorber rather than being a plain length of webbing.

Features and Benefits

The built-in shock absorber is the difference that matters. Edelrid states it will hold a factor 2 standard fall under EN 355 with an impact force below 6 kN. That is the scenario that makes clipping in with a plain sling dangerous.

Additionally, the absorber itself is extremely small. So the sling stays manageable on a harness rather than dangling as a bulky package. The elasticated arm keeps the carabiner close to hand instead of swinging around your knees.

Beyond use, the attachment is simple. Girth hitch it to the harness and it is ready. One safety note from Edelrid should be read literally. This is not a via ferrata set and must not be used as one.

Use Edelrid Tactical Absorber Sling to clip into belay chains on multi-pitch routes at Wadi Bih. It also works at anchor stations on the Hajar crags when you go in direct to swap leads. For via ferrata at Jebel Jais you need a certified via ferrata set instead.
